How can you get clean, when you’re scrubbing yourself with a microbe-ridden sponge?
Bacteria
Bacteria love to grow in the nooks and crannies of wet loofahs. This type (gram-negative bacteria) can cause break-outs, infections to hair follicles, and are often resistant to antibiotics.
Mold
Mold thrives in a wet environment. Loofahs, often left hanging in showers, never properly dry which allows mold to grow and multiply. Breathing in mold spores can be harmful.
Yeast
Fungus (like Candida) lingers in loofahs and can cause yeast infections and rashes.
